2017 Summer Math Packets 1-5

June 16, 2017
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
The Belleville Public Schools wish for our students to enter the new school year in September with a solid foundation of math skills appropriate to the students’ grade levels.

To minimize the loss of fundamental mathematical skills and knowledge - as per the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) - Belleville Public Schools district has developed this “Summer Math Packet.”
Although the packets will not be graded, they will be utilized for skills and knowledge review at the beginning of the school year. To that end:
• The students that complete the packet will have a better opportunity to recapture previous learning and be better prepared for new content.
• The students that do not complete the packet may struggle to remember previous learning and may be grasp new content as easily.

Students who have used this past school year are encouraged to continue accessing the website throughout the summer.
For easier completion of the packet, please be advised:
• Students can access the summer packets for their entering scheduled grade at the Belleville School District’s website:
• Packets can be downloaded and printed out. Work can be done neatly in the packet with answers clearly labeled. Students may also attach their work, if they choose to do the problems from the packet on separate sheets of paper.
• Problems must be numbered, all work must be included, and answers must be labeled.
• Students may also visit the Belleville Public Library to utilize their computers in the event you are unable to access an Internet connection.
Have a safe, healthy and happy summer! Thank you very much for your continued support and cooperation. We will see you all in September.
